General FAQs

Find answers to common questions about our SMS service. If you cannot find an answer to your query do not hesitate to contact one of our friendly advisors.

How much does it cost?

Our SMS Gateway is free to use and there are no setup fees. You just go onto the website and complete the sign-up process. You will receive a small bundle of free messages to test with. After that you need to purchase bundles of messages through the website. Please visit our pricing page to see how cheap our messages cost. A cost will be involved if you wish to install SMS Server.

How do I sign up?

Sign-up for SMS Online. Once registered, log into SMS online and perform the following steps:
• Navigate to Administration->Account Setting and check ‘Enable SMTP Gateway’
• Enter the external IP address of your mail server in to ‘Mail Server IP Address:’
• Navigate to Personal->Settings and check ‘SMTP Gateway user’
• Ensure that the sending email address is in the Email box of the personal settings.

How do I top up my account?

Simply log into SMS Online using the credentials sent to you upon registration and navigate to ‘Administration->Purchase Messages’. Here a table of message bundles is presented including the option to top up the interconnect fund. Messages may either be securely purchased through the website or a pro-forma invoice printed and then funds sent to M:Science upon receipt of which credit will be added.

Can I receive messages?

You can lease either dedicated inbound numbers or shared inbound numbers with keywords. If you lease a dedicated inbound number you have the choice of routing all messages sent to this number to one or more users or allocating any number of keywords such that when a message is sent to the number which commences with the keyword, it will get routed any selected user.

Can I send to multiple recipients?

It is possible to either select multiple recipients from any address book to form a distribution list or to send directly to all of the contacts in a contact folder or all of the users in a department.

Can I have more than one user associated with my account?

Yes, the initial user created automatically by the registration process has administrative privileges. This means that they can create and edit new users or more administrators. Each one of these will have their own set of login details, however if they are not an administrator they will be restricted in any configuration changes they can make.

How can I guarantee that my text messages will be delivered?

Whether you are using an email client, web page, 3rd party client or our own SMS client you can opt to have delivery receipts for your outbound messages. These work in exactly the same way as delivery receipts on your mobile phone and are available with the one-way and two-way IP service as well the GSM delivery method. For users who require 100% mission critical performance a Service Level Agreement (SLA) is available as an option. Contact us for more information.
